Many of you may not have heard, but there is a hot new guitarist, songwriter, and singer who is blowing up. Her vocals are impeccable, and her music is soulful leaving you wanting more. Out of the East Village of New York City, Emily King has written a collection of stories about obstacles that she has been through in her life.

Her debut single entitled "Walk In My Shoes" produced by Chucky Thompson, has put her on the map. It's a jazzy remake of one of Donna Summer's songs, but it reminds me of that old school classic entitled "Love Hangover" by Diana Ross.
Emily creates this funky old school vibe taking us back to our roots. She's even opened up on tours for talented artists like John Legend.
"That was an amazing tour; it was musically at a certain level where I learned a lot," King said about the tour in a recent interview at Norfolk State University.
Now she's working with Floetry on a few songs.
Coming from a musically inclined family, the guitar was waiting for King.
"At first it was hard, it hurt my fingers," said King.
When she finally started writing music, the joy of it took over that pain, she said. She's been playing for almost six years now.
In 2005, she was signed to J/Arista Records. Emily started working overtime putting her all into writing music.

"I really tried to have every song strong on the album so that they could all be potential singles."
And when King's on stage, she hypes up the crowd by incorporating familiar songs that the audience can relate to.

"I do that to kind of get everybody familiar with where I come from."
Emily's debut album titled "East Side Story" hit stores on August 28.
In "Colorblind", a song from her new album, she talks about things she went through living as a multi-racial child. Her father is African-American and Native American, and her mother is Italian and Polish.
"Colorblind" literally describes how cruel people can be. This song exhibits how ignorance exists. Hate isn't good for the soul. It doesn't matter what color someone is because love has no color.
Look out for new songs like "You Can Get By" and "Business Man" and visit www.myspace.com/emilykingmusic. Her music is the pure essence of R&B, Jazz, and Hip hop all put together.
