Have you ever wanted to go out and have fun, but when you opened your wallet, you only had $2.00? You have probably had this happen to you more than once. Well, here are just a few of the places that you can attend
and things you can do for $5.00 or less.
Everyone wants to watch the latest movies in the theaters, but now it costs over $6.00 to watch a movie...and a matinee at that. So,what is a student to do but forgo movie watching? There is a simple solution to this
dilemma. An inexpensive movie theater named Cinema Café, has four locations here in Hampton Roads. Cinema Café offers cheap movies and good food to eat while viewing. Cinema Café at Pembroke Meadows and Greenbrier Mall in Chesapeake offer movies that have just left the major theaters, but are still relatively new. The other two locations at Kemps River in Virginia Beach and Riverdale in Hampton, show new releases.
Cinema Cafe charges $1.50 for all shows on Monday through Thursday at the Cinema Cafés in Pembroke Meadows and Greenbrier Mall. This is a plus for students that do not have classes on any of these days or have early days.
The cost at their other two locations, Kemps River and Riverdale, are $5.00
for all shows Monday through Thursday.
Cinema Café serves an array of menu items ranging from lasagnas to
cheesecake.
Another outlet for entertainment is located about 10 minutes away from campus. The Chrysler Museum of Art is a wonderful place to visit. The museum is located on 245 West Olney Road (at Mowbray Arch) in Ghent. It is
filled with beautiful works of art from the Impressionist artist Monet to the
more contemporary works of Mark Rothko.
The museum is offering free admissions for those who are 18 and under and
students with a valid college ID. Wednesdays are free for everyone. The museum is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and all major holidays, but it is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturday. It is open from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays and 10 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays.
